Writing

I’ve written about audio for Transom, Sight and Sound and the Bello Collective. Co-created an accompanying book for the first Barbican Soundhouse in 2018 with Nina Garthwaite and Siddharth Khajuria, and collaboratively written the introductory essay for the 2020 Barbican Soundhouse with Nina Garthwaite.

I also make a print zine for audio called Weird Noise.

For a Field Recordings installation at the XMTR Festival in 2024 I created an accompanying accordion fold zine. The zine held sonic descriptions from the last four years of the Field Recordings podcast from stories of cracking ice to creaking trees, mountain goats to broken clocks.

Nina Garthwaite, Siddharth Khajuria and I co-created a book for the first Soundhouse audio cinema at the Barbican. It featured newly commissioned essays by Cathy Fitzgerald, Renay Richardson, Jon Tjhia, Farokh Soltani and Edwin Brys alongside our own writing. In the book, Nina and I wrote about the research we’d done into the physical experience of listening, some of which can still be read on the Barbican’s website here. Attached to the front of the book were a series of postcards, created from Nina’s designs for imaginary listening cinemas.
